Our Memoir "Best's"

Our Creative Writing class just finished the memoir section of this course. We reflected on times past, our beliefs, what we have, who we are, and funny, tender moments of our life. We wrote prose, verse, and a mix of both.

We have each selected one piece to share. Click on the comment button to add your memoir piece of choice. Make sure to give your piece a title. Enjoy!

Reflection of "I Am" poems

...but what are you? Read through the collection of "I am" poems and jot down words, phrases, lines, feelings, etc. that you notice, that are glimmers of effective writing. Then, click on the comment link and type up a paragraph minimum response explaining what you noticed.

This is going to be the challenge this semester: to look at the ordinary, comfortable, known and make it jump off the page, soar through your readers' eyes, and settle back on the page...different. We are going to write authentically and will discover your voice. I look forward to sharing our writing. Bienvenue!

Your first assignment on Blogger is to add your "I am" and "Where I'm From" poems. As we study the craft of creative writing, hopefully you will see your writing change from your first poem here, to your last postings. You won't always like the results from the assignments; they are meant to stretch you, not necessary find a glimmer on everyone's page. Keep writing, though, and I know your writing will strengthen.
